My life, much like the moon-to-earth relationship, has gravitated around writing since before I could connect the written word with the spoken. I hardly knew then that my harmless story-crafting of dolls' lives would evolve into this never-quite-finished urge to write, write, write. And so round and round I go, attempting to satisfy this unexplained attraction to words.

After spending some time in the "real" world (oh, don't you love it when people call it that?) after high school and having experiences in which you realize your life isn't putting itself on hold, I filled out an application and was accepted into a writing program. I spent three years studying the craft of writing and a little religion, too. In that time, I received a fellowship for a writing project and the Fiction Award for my graduating class as well as spending most of those years as a composition teaching assistant/tutor and a research assistant in poetics.

What I haven't managed is publication. When I was an undergraduate, I wanted to focus on my craft, not my writer's resume, and so I didn't submit my work to magazines or publishing houses. Was this a bad choice on my part? I don't believe it was. When you are ready, you're ready, you know? And now I feel I'm ready to make the transition from aspiring student to published author.

And so this blog is my first step in said transition. I'll share stories, poems, images... all pieces of myself, all evidence of my constant evolution as a writer and photographer.
